CPA NetProtect, now available for AICPA Professional Liability Insurance policyholders for an additional fee, provides two significant enhancements to the network risk and privacy claim coverage currently included in the AICPA Professional Liability Insurance policy:

1. Privacy Event Expense Coverage – Reimburses you, up to the limit of liability, for reasonable and actual costs incurred if you sustain a privacy breach. This includes the cost to:

  • Comply with a privacy breach notice law, including notifying affected individuals by first class mail
  • Procure credit monitoring on behalf of individuals affected by the privacy breach
  • Manage or respond to unfavorable publicity or media attention arising out of a privacy breach event
  • Manage your relationships with privacy regulatory authorities or law enforcement authorities
  • Remediate a risk control deficiency that may have contributed to a breach

Coverage is designed to help you respond quickly if you sustain a covered privacy breach, as well as minimize the chance of a recurrence — two critical features that can help reduce your exposure to potentially expensive privacy litigation. 1

2. Network Damage Claim Coverage – Responds if a claim results from an unauthorized use of your network to attack or damage another’s network. Complements your AICPA Professional Liability Insurance policy to cover claims brought by non-clients alleging the following, if caused by you:

  • The unscheduled and unplanned inability to gain access to their network
  • Damage to information residing on their network
  • The suspension or interruption of their network

In addition to these coverage enhancements, CPA NetProtect also provides an extensive risk control program, including the School of Risk Control Education, client advisories, risk control primers, claim hotline, and breach response services.
