Can I use this coverage to replace my current medical insurance?
The AICPA Group Catastrophe Major Medical Insurance is not meant to replace your basic medical insurance. This insurance plan is a supplemental insurance plan - -you must have a basic medical plan in order to qualify for this insurance.
What do you mean this is a supplemental insurance plan?
Most individual medical and managed care plans have limits on benefits. If you or a family member were to experience a catastrophic non-job related accident or sickness or injury, your basic medical care benefits can be exhausted quickly. This plan supplements expenses that exceed the limit of your basic medical coverage for the injury or sickness.
I am currently living in a foreign country. My current medical insurance was obtained from an insurance company in that country. Am I eligible to participate in this program?
Your basic medical insurance must be issued through a United States of America based insurance company.
The United States Life Insurance Company does not consider medical insurance obtained through a foreign-based insurance company as qualifying basic health insurance for this plan.
Would this plan pay for nursing home care?
The plan pays up to $300 per week (to a lifetime maximum of $46,800 while insured) for convalescent care or custodial care in a convalescent home due to a non-job related injury or sickness. The confinement must begin within 14 days after hospitalization and must be due to the injury or sickness which required the hospitalization.
What if I enroll in the program and decide to cancel it?
You have a 30-day risk-free guarantee with this plan. When you receive your Certificate of Insurance, review it to see all the benefits under this plan. If you are not satisfied with the coverage for any reason, you can cancel it.
Simply return the certificate within the 30 days, and you will receive a full refund of any premium you have paid.
